I.C. Stars 15-1's matched the 2nd highest finish in club history as they tied for 9th place in the field of 137 teams in the 15 and under division. However, it wasn't easy! After going undefeated on Friday and finishing pool play Saturday morning with a 1-2 record, they found themselves in a one set playoff for a chance to get back into the Gold Championship Playoffs. After falling behind by a score of 6-21 we witnessed one of the greatest comebacks I've ever seen in volleyball. The I.C. Stars 15-1's outscored Suncoast 15 out of Sarasota Florida, by a score of 21-4 to win the match 27-25. The unbelievable win would carry over as they went on to win two challenge matches against MAVA 15's out of Kentucky and Volleyball Pensacola 15's out of Florida on their way to the Gold Championship playoffs. However, after a long and memorable Saturday of volleyball the girls would fall in the 1st round of the Gold Bracket to OBV 15 National out of South Florida by the score of 25-23 and 31-29. The loss would put them out of the event and give them an overall 9th place finish. I.C. Stars 17's battled through some tough competition to finish 53rd out of 121 teams in the 17 and under division. On consecutive days the team played to a 3 way tie for 2nd in their pool. On Friday they won two straight tiebreakers to claim 2nd place in pool, but Saturday they would drop the 1st tiebreaker and have to settle for the Flight 1 Championships. On Sunday morning the 17-1's got off to a great start winning set one 25-8, but they dropped set two 14-25 and the deciding set 10-15 to finish in the 53rd position. I.C. Stars 18's fought through three days of competition on their way to 25th place in the field of 88 teams in the 18 and under division. After a good start on Friday in which they swept through their pool with a first place finish, the 18's would fall to Gainesville Juniors 18 Black (eventual 3rd place overall finish) and Nashville One 18 Red (eventual 9th place overall) on Saturday morning. The two loses would knock them out of the Gold Championship and force them into the Bronze Division. On Sunday they started strong knocking out MAV 18 out of Florida in a close three set match, but would later fall to SMJVC 18-1 in the semifinals of Bronze and give them a 25th place finish in the tournament.
